Privacy Policy
This privacy policy explains how The Hills Driving School LLC (the “School,” “we,” “us”) collects, uses and protects personal information about our students, their parents or guardians, and visitors to our website. We do not sell personal information.
1. Information we collect
- Contact and account details: name, email, phone number and pickup address of the student, and of the parent or guardian for a student under 18.
- Student details: date of birth, learner's permit or license information and documents you upload, lesson bookings, hours bought and used, instructor notes and lesson evaluations, driving test appointments and results, and the practice log you choose to keep.
- Payments: what you bought, the amount and the date. Card details are handled by Stripe; we never see full card numbers.
- Messages: records of the booking emails and text messages we send, and your text-message choices.
2. How we use it
- To enroll students, schedule lessons and driving tests, assign instructors and vehicles, and pick students up.
- To take payments, keep records of hours and progress, and issue certificates required in California.
- To send confirmations, reminders and important notices, and to keep students and instructors safe.
- To meet our legal and licensing obligations.
3. Who we share it with
- Our instructors and staff, who see what they need to teach and support each student.
- DriveBees, the platform we use for registration, scheduling, payments and records, which handles information on our behalf as our service provider, and its own service providers for hosting, sign-in, payments and message delivery.
- Licensing authorities, only as required by law or to issue or report certificates you need.
- Others when the law requires it, or to protect someone's safety.
We do not sell or rent personal information and do not use it for advertising by others.
4. Students under 18
Our students include teens. A parent or legal guardian is linked to each student under 18 and can see and manage the student's lessons and records. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
5. How long we keep it
We keep student records for as long as needed to provide our services and to meet our legal and licensing record-keeping obligations, generally four years after a student's last lesson, and then delete them.
6. Security
Information is stored with DriveBees in the United States, in a private database protected by encryption in transit, strict access controls and access logs. Private documents open only through short-lived links.
7. Your choices and rights
- You may ask to see, correct or delete your information, subject to records we must keep by law. Parents and guardians may make these requests for a student under 18.
- Reply STOP to any text message to stop texts.
- California residents have the rights described in the California Consumer Privacy Act, including to know, delete and correct personal information, and not to be discriminated against for using them. Residents of other states and of Canada may have similar rights under their laws.
